Oh, and yea, let's just do it for playoff games. Fuck the other 16 games, which all progressively determine those who get to play in the tournament.

Someone, maybe Polian, said that the "framers" of the initial rules for OT did not envision the advancement of the kicking game getting to this point. Correct me if I am wrong, but there have been PLENTY of missed kicks in overtimes sessions in the past decade, with our team, and others.

Someone else, maybe even Polian, also said he was shocked at the ratio of teams that win the games when winning the toss vs. those who lose the toss.

So, I looked the stat up. Since 1996, 59% of your coin toss winners have won the game. That means that 41% of the time, a team actually (hold your fucking breath) made a stop on defense, forced a punt or turnover, and won the game.

I can think of several Panther OT games (can someone find out if any team other than Carolina played more OT games in the last decade?)

2003: @ Atlanta: Delhomme throws a pick after the Panthers won the toss. Falcons win.

2003: @ Tampa: Both teams traded possessions. Carolina wins on a long punt return and long FG.

2003: @ STL: Carolina wins the toss. Again, trade of possession occurs. BOTH teams miss field goals, and it took two OT's on a busted coverage to settle it.

This rule change sucks a dick. I could get behind it if it applied to all 16 regular season games. But to change the rules of the game in January is hideous.

    Fuck Roger Goodell. Liberal shitdick.

Don't look now but the rules for overtime are already different for the post season. Regular season games end in a tie after 15 minutes. Post season it's play till there's a winner.
