I'd say the 99% of fans unhappy about his comments are just returning the petty, scorned favor.

You guys sound like a bunch of chicks whose husbands ran off with other women. He did what was best for himself just like the Panthers did what was best for the team. Big shock that pro sports is nothing but a business, huh?

Bucko, I don't think we need any lessons about being fans of the NFL. Everybody on this board has a clue. Why don't you get one.

Julius Peppers buys 25 bottles of champagne for patrons at Crescendo
    Share |

Julius Peppers didn't need to buy drinks for club patrons at Crescendo to win over his new town -- but it didn't hurt.

The new Bears defensive end purchased 25 bottles of Perrier Jouet Fleur de Champagne ($350 per bottle) at the River North club and had them distributed by staff around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday -- complete with sparklers. The crowd was told it was Peppers' way of saying thanks for the warm welcome.

Peppers, who signed a six-year, $91.5 million deal with the Bears Friday, celebrated his first night in Chicago as a Bear with two other people in a roped off area and ordered three bottles of Ace of Spades Rose for his table.

Earlier that night, Peppers had dinner with Bears coach Lovie Smith and fellow Bears free agent signee Chester Taylor at Gibsons Steakhouse in the Gold Coast.

peppers is a fucking moron. He'll shell out 10k for a bunch of strangers to try and buy their respect but he expects a new teammate to respect him enough to just hand over something he wants free o' charge. Nice way to start dumbass

If I were Gilbert I would tell peppers he'd have to make that #90 bears jersey the highest priced jersey in the history of the league, and not just by "a little bit". In his mind he deserves to be the highest paid ever . . . so that jersey should be worth more than any other jersey ever, right?

Whats the highest dollar value for a jersey number any of you have heard of?

Yeah, if I were Gilbert, I'd tell him it'll cost him just one mil, about a single game check (last year) and he could consider it one of the games he took off. I'd say it's not about the money, but out of respect.

At least we know it wasn't about getting a ring for Peppers. Had he taken less and played for Dallas or New England then I'd have more respect for him. 1.5 million and to be known as the "highest paid defensive player" indicates his true colors

Fuck him. Hope he's a total bust for the Bears. I wouldn't mind seeing a nice ACL tear.
