Before Matt Moore stepped in and played so well at the end of last season I was hoping to acquire Jason Campbell. I still think he would do pretty well here. McNabb is obviously better and more proven that either Moore or Campbell but I am not sure he would be worth the price it would take to get him.

Moore looked like the next good young QB to me. Certainly he may still falter but he gave lots of reasons for us to give him every chance to be "the guy".

Yup. Of course the fans tend to see a glimmer and suddenly this guy is THE FRANCHISE PLAYER. Every time we get a rookie RB that shows any promise, we're ready to trade the starter for someone "serviceable" because the new guy 5 games in, is the foundation of the team. I have every hope Moore continues to play well and even improve, but he hasn't had the test of time yet.

You never know what you have in a guy if after five good games you give up on him and chase an expensive aging free agent to replace him.

I wouldn't be opposed to bring in Jason Campbell as a backup. Long term we need to find talent through the draft. I'm not a draft guy, but i'm sue we can find a value pick at QB- we just need to stay the hell away from tebow. Don't get me wrong, I hope Moore plays so well that we don't need anyone else. It's just always easier to find a good price on a new car when your current car is running than to go shopping when you're desperate.

I do not think you get Campbell to make him a backup. You get him because you think he can start. He is going to want to at least have a decent shot at starting no matter where he goes.

I am not against drafting a QB. I just do not see spending big money to sign a free agent or trade for a guy. If Moore had played like crap last year it would be different.

Then scratch Campbell. He hasn't played consistently enough to be a starter.

Entering the season I was inclined to favor us looking at Campbell but I just didn't like much of what I saw out of him this year.

I believe Moore will get the shot when everything plays out, with Jake and some other journeyman type rounding the QB roster.

It is very rare to find a consistently good QB available.

That is why we need to be looking now. Wasn't it the year before last Moore broke his leg? Where would we be if that happens this season? Back to square delhomme?

He played good a few years back as well and went 2-1 in that stretch. I think he has proven when given the chance to play with the starters on the field in game situations that he is able to play to a high level. He has practically started half a season worth of games. He has a winning record in his starting record. The excitement and confidence that was shown throughout the entire team when he was the QB also is something that you can't just bring in off of the street. He has been here for a few years and learned the system and I believe he is ready to step in and take over.
