I'd definitely want to dump his contract, Kemo's, and keep any roster bonuses as roster bonuses. Try to be as cap-solvent as possible. I think the idea of players suddenly cashing in on an uncapped year is essentially false - a few players will get ridiculous contracts up front but for the most part a cap will be in the future - but the long term bonus for players and teams will be what could be considered a clean slate for future years.

The problem is that Jake didn't play like a back-up in 09. He played like a 3rd string CFL quarterback. We're paying him starter money when he probably can't start at any level of pro football anymore. If we're going to have to "pay him either way", I'd rather us just eat the money and find a quality back-up.

I agree dump the huge contracts, pay Jake,Kemo to retire basically. Clean things up for the future.

I agree with what many of you are saying,,,, but I still say they aren't even considering paying off Jake.

I believe Jake will have to walk up to John Fox and tell him that "he's done" physically. And I don't believe Jake will do that, and as long as Jake's out there practicing, Fox will be giving him every chance to be our starting QB once again. Mark it down.

Fox does not want to tarnish himself, especially when he may be looking for a new job after 2010. He is not going to play the QB who is clearly not as good as the other one on the roster no matter how much he might like Jake. It was one thing to stick with Jake when all he had behind him was unproven, undrafted guys like Moore and journeymen like Feely and McCown but it is another to stick with him when Moore played lights out for the last few games. If Moore were unrestricted someone would sign him and give him a chance to start.

You are giving Fox more credit that I can. I still believe Fox is stubborn, and Fox never had confidence in Moore over Jake before,,,, in fact it took an injury to Jake to get Moore on the field.

Sure, Moore had some very good games, but Fox will have a healthy Jake in training camp, and if Fox don't give Moore "points" for his game performances, if his decision is based on training camp only,,, then IMO I still believe the job is Jake's to lose.

You should know I actually hope your right.

I was not in a hurry to see Jake benched last year despite his sometimes awful play. The reason for that is I had no confidence in Moore. He has only played a few games a couple of years ago and did not really shine back then. He did not look good when he came in against Philly in the first game of the year nor in preseason. Obviously Moore looked great when he got his chance and I wish they had played him sooner now that I know he can get the job done but it was impossible to know that.

None of us knew how Moore would do,,, he was a pleasant surprise. The difference between you, I and Fox are that you/I are not as stubborn. We are both now willing to give Moore a chance, but I'm not sold that Fox will. Fox has too many ties to Jake,,, Jake is a 10-year veteran (you know Fox's loyalty to veterans). Moore supporters need to hope Moore has an outstanding training camp this summer.

Why do you think that Fox is more stubborn than I am? I would have probably done the same things he did up until now. If he does force Jake back in as the starter then I will concede that you were right but I just do not see it happening.
