When will there be a full review of the broadcast teams of the area teams. Panthers, Bobcats, and area college teams? If Mick Mixon is due up in the next year why cant a play be made for someone like Wes Durham and if there is new Bobcat ownership can Matt devlin return to the market for the Bobcats. Both teams work on the cheap and it shows

I think the Panthers are happy with Mick Mixon. He is a team player and that goes a long way inside the organization. The only way I see him leaving is to take Woody's place with the Tar Heels.

No way Matt Devlin comes back to the Bobcats. As you say the team is unwilling to make an investment in their radio broadcasts. Steve Martin is well liked and hard to replace on the TV side.

Sadly I think radio play by play for anything other than the NFL and the major college teams (who pay big bucks to buy on) will be going the way of the Internet, and that right soon. Charlotte is such a poor radio market local teams can't find radio partners.

I am hearing a rumor that the Daytona 500 won't be heard on radio in Charlotte. It may run on 610 or 1660 but that is not certain. Here we are smack dab in the middle of NASCAR country and you won't be able to hear the races on the radio. Very sad...

There are some rumblings that Clear Channel may flip one of their FMs News/Talk or Sports. That will open some things up but in reality the PPM is making the future look bleak for local play by play sports...

WSOC isn't doing the race? That's a huge shock, especially seeing that this is NASCAR country.

I guess the closest to Charlotte would be WHKY in Hickory. What about Statesville? Anybody doing races up there? And is there no one in Lincolnton or Cleveland County doing races?

The rumor I hear is WSOC will carry the All Star Race from MRN and the Nationwide and Cup races at Charlotte from PRN.

I believe 550 WAME in Statesville carries some races. Not sure about Lincolnton. The old WOHS in Shelby is dark right now pending a doomed move closer to Charlotte (ask Danny Fontana how that works). Shelby may have another station, not sure off the top of my head.

Sadly, all of the more viable AM's are Spanish or Religious. I don't have a problem with those formats except they are unlikely to break format for sports. WHVN is an exception. They are carrying Duke and some Davidson games...
