Bobby April has opted out of the remaining two years on his contract.

Think Fox would consider him to replace Crossman?

On another note, Charlie Weiss is holding off a job offer with KC for a possible shot as Bears OC under Lovie Smith. Would you take a chance on a change at OC for the Panthers if you could bring in Weiss? I have no real problem with Davidson, except for the dude has the worst body language in football. Every shot of him on TV he looks miserable, no-confidence, confused.

offense was painful to watch... during the season I would have said anybody but Davidson next year but Moore & the running game executed pretty well the last 5 weeks as a whole

Probably a good reason not to mess with it. Even with a good coordinator there seems to be a learning curve in the first year. Meeks would be an example. The D didn't really gell under him until after mid-season.

April is definitely an upgrade. Weis isn't an option to replace Davidson almost by definition. I'm sure they'd love to work together, but I'd be impressed with them fitting both in (and firing Davidson to get Weis won't work).

Defense was missing players in camp and to start the season... I love where the defense is at this point. That's why one reason why I want Peppers back... Gamble is the weak link though. He's capable of making big plays, but he's too inconsistant. I say get a corner and move Gamble to nickel... problem is he's like the 3rd highest player on the team.

it'll help Cassel, and Jamaal Charles I guess, but an odd pairing. Being a top coordinator and going to a place where the last guy was fired before the season starts, that's problematic.

I have to admit, I thought Weiss would've been more likely to go to Chicago.

As for CB help, if Javier Areanas is there when we pick in the second, I would consider him. He can cover, and is dangerous as a return man as well.
