Heard on WFNZ while coming in to work (I know the source isn't great) that Peppers is willing to resign with Carolina and is seeking around $15 mil. a year.

Would you pay that? I'm thinking if the contract is structured right, I'd consider that.

Sure I'd spend Jerry's money and do that, but they don't have any real info on that, they're just fishing for attention

15 mill would be a good deal for the Panthers if he would actually sign for that.

Wish he could get that based on incentives. Since it's uncapped pay him large this year and a better figure for years when we have a cap again. Whatever it takes to put this behind us.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Something to the effect of $16 million next year, 15 the year after, 14 the year after that, etc. I know that's just rough numbers, but I'd prefer seeinf it set up as a declining salary considering his age.

Has there ever been a bigtime extension set up that way?

Peppers is NOT worth that kind of money. he didnt want it last year and hes not worth it this year. let him sign and watch him half-ass it the rest of his career.

Not sure, but I'm thinking with next year being uncapped there would be an effore to push the cap hit to that year.

yeah, use a roster bonus instead of a signing bonus but you mentioned reducing salaries which I don't think has ever happened.

I don't know if I totally agree with that. He seemed to respond well to Meeks' D and even tho he didn't come right out and say it (he danced around it in their exit interviews w/the media), I think that he liked playing it better than Trgo's D. Meeks and some of the other D players admitted that it took them awhile to catch onto the scheme, but the D seemed to blossom as the season wore on.

I find this little blurb rather interesting (especially the bolded part) :

A year ago, he sought an exit from the Panthers, saying he wanted to go elsewhere and felt he'd maximized his potential at Carolina.

Peppers said Monday that position was no longer valid, which Carey reiterated.

"He definitely enjoyed playing this season and enjoyed how the defense has performed," said Carey. "The issues that he may have had last season, those issues don't currently exist."
    A jab at Trgo, maybe?
