Fox got a qb and a rb and coupled them with the talent that was here and availabe with Peppers. How can you look at the players above and say it was empty? He made them play better but he had some good pieces to work with.

I'm nearly certain Fox will be back regardless.

Lots of bad coaches are still liked by their players, even some members of the Browns are coming to Mangini's defense now.

fox isn't a bad coach. it's when a coach is decent and disliked you have a problem. i think that's what did in Henning and George. bad coaches usually don't last long regardless.

he probably means that he inherited the pick. but he did pick him and coulda picked Harrington or some other winner.

Fox inherited a few good players, but he also inherited a quite a few bad players that were having to start for us (Weinke, Lester Towns, Richard Huntley and Donald Hayes to name a few), no depth behind the "starters", and some character issues (Sean Gilbert, Rashard Anderson, Chris Terry and Jay Williams to name a few). Key positions like QB, RB, and MLB (Morgan was playing on the outside) were just completely awful. The o-line (in addition to Terry) though fairly solid had a couple guys up in their 30's that he'd soon have to find replacements for, Walls was over-the-hill. And the attitude and work ethic of the team was horrible. A bunch of finger pointing and excuses. And apparently, their fitness was also an issue. He did inherit a great draft from George S. but he still had an awful lot of work to do to make the Panthers a competitive team.

I didn't say Fox was a bad coach, just that your argument is flawed since lots of coaches good and bad get support from the players.

Its just my opinion, but I think Fox is a pretty good coach. I think he is too loyal to a fault that. I think that's his biggest problem.

He keeps coaches he's loyal to. He defends his players to a fault. If he wouldn't look at them as his friends and more like pieces to a puzzle the need to be changed over time, he'd be a great coach.

The biggest thing this team needs to do is replace the offensive and special teams coordinators and bring in better talent scouts.
