Watch out, my outfit's ridiculous. In the club looking so conspicuous. And rowl, these women all on the prowl, if you hold the head steady I'm a milk the cow. Forget about the game, I'm a spit the truth. I won't stop till I get them in their birthday suits. So give me the rhythm and it'll be off with their clothes, then bend over to the front and touch your toes. I left the jag and I took the roles, if they aint cutting then I put them on foot patrol. How you like me now, when my pinky's valued over three hundred thousand. Lets drank you the one to please, Ludacris fill cups like double d's. Me and Ush once more and we leave them dead, we want a lady in the street but a freak in the bed.

odd argument. true, the paper (and the players and coaches) said they simplified some things, and they played better. true, i did not like Trgovac (for similar reasons that i do not now like Davidson). but i'm clueless as to how you managed to link him into the discussion. I will say that my issues with Trgo was that his players often seemed lost early in a season but generally their play improved as the season progressed. I'm not seeing that with Davidson.

my general feeling is that if players cannot execute your scheme, you need to make changes so that they can. change can take shape in many forms from changing your practice routines, players, and plays. simplifying is just one way to try to improve execution. (i don't think adding complexity a viable option when they can't execute what they have now). admittedly, i am with the school of thought that thinks you have a better chance of winning by doing a few things really, really well than a lot of things poorly.

ok, maybe Henning didn't develop anybody. i suppose the credit would go to his assistants. but, he's history with us so who cares if he did or didn't?

Explosion? Outside the DW (drafted by Henning), Stewart, Otah and Kalil where do you see an explosion of talent? I don't disagree that our drafts seemed to be getting better but I'm not sure Davidson is any better at developing players. DW, Stewart and Otah all came in as super talented players. I don't think you can give him a lot of credit for developing these guys. Outside of Kalil, who's contributing. There are some good looking youngsters but then again they seem to be lagging in development. I think it's a little early to make a call. If Jarrett and others actually develop in starters then we can give him the credit your now throwing his way. But even if so, the important issue is can he get his players to play well enough to win games. If he can't do this then he doesn't matter if he's great at developing talent.

{QUOTE=magnus;2487146] Davidson this year is saddled with an inept passing game and has to work between being aggressive with no QB or playing against 9 in the box on third down. He's not adjusting to it well, and it might cost him. He's been far more Henning this year than he had been or should be..[/QUOTE]

Saddled? It's not his job to make it work? I could understand if the OL sucked but we have a pretty decent line. We've got some receivers and TE's that can catch. Even if jake is struggling, you'd think it should have been better. There's no consistency. We run for a few yards on first, then we chunk an imcompleted bomb on second and then come up short on third. Blitz pickups have been worse than i can ever remember, penalties on the line seem to have increased or kill drives more often, and just stupid shit like an endless scene of illegal shifts. We're 3/4 into the season, and things aren't improving but are getting worse. Something is off and i think it's the OC. You?

My feeling is that you held that offhand statement against Trgovac and now you're applying that to the other guy.

execution and understanding to me are two different things. You can understand your responsibility but that doesn't mean you do it well. Making it dumber won't make you get off blocks.

Which, most people want an ultra-complex scheme, so I don't know if your intent is to advocate a Tampa-2 but there's a lot to say for wanting execution over cuteness. That part I agree with.

how would his assistants develop anyone? My point is that almost no youth had been developed through his tenure. Which, the "who cares" is that it's a point that Davidson did better. Or, call it better drafting, or call it the team wanting it and Davidson isn't in the equation, but even at that point I'd say that it would help suggest Henning either point.

we rely mostly on homegrown players. I don't think this is specifically in question really.

The passing game should work because of him. Any and all of it realistically ends up falling under his purvey (and Fox's, and JR's above that). If it doesn't work, it's his fault, and sure I fault him to a point. He can't make Jake's arm work, though.

specifically and only? No. Do I think he makes some bizarre calls right now? Yes. Do I see how most of them would work if we could execute them, many of those specifically at QB? Yes.
I'm not saying the guy's the best ever, but coaches don't forget how to coach when things aren't perfect.

I don't mean to derail your thread but I think there are as many issues with Meeks and the Defense as Davidson and the offense. Opposing offenses go straight down the field and the Panthers defense hopes for a turnover to stop them. It's happened in the Tampa Bay Game and again in the New England Game (2nd half).

This defense is improved from last years in most all categories including yards. They aren't great in any way but if there was some offense to speak of the improvement would be more noticable.

You can talk stats all you want, but show me a stop in the second half of the New England game other than the pic.

We'll see how tonight goes but I expect the defense to get shredded.

Judging the defense on one game is fair.

It isn't just based on one game I assure you.

Another example would be Tampa Bay game, a game which the Panthers won, and only gave up 6 points. But if you watch the game you'll see Tampa march down the field time and again. Only turnovers, often in the end zone, prevented the Bucs from winning that game.

    The defense has serious issues.
