You assume that fans and JR think benching Jake would make any difference. I for one do not expect much.

No honestly I think Fox is GONE either way (and he needs to be), I'm just saying his benching Jake would've at least given him the opportunity to tell JR "but I did try it"...

The ONLY way Fox could get Jake off the field without admitting he was wrong about Jake, thus admitting that he wasted Panther fans, players and owners time and money was by Jake getting injured (IE intensionally smashing his fingers with a hammer).

Fox couldn't bench Jake, because by benching him he basically gave up on Jake, the season and his coaching job. Fox needed Jake to pull through to save all three and when it didn't happen, the injury made it easy. I honestly believe that Jake is relieved by this situation. It has to be hard to come out every Sunday and avoid the obvious truth, he's done and has been all season.

I thought this injury would have occurred much sooner than it did. At this point, Moore could win out all the games and I still see Fox getting the axes. I think he should. Time to go down with the ship. Smith, Williams and Stewart and the rest of the offense deserve better than Jake, but they were forced to stick with a guy that was done. It's basically a waste of a season for these guys. Smith should be more pissed than anyone else. He only has a handfull of season left.
