Why could we not bolster the DT position before the season started?

    so we have a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th?

2nd will be a waste. 7th will be a player that becomes the training camp darling but really isn't quite ready for sunday football. that leaves us with a 3 and a 4, realistically.

slim pickings there indeed. can we go ahead and unload those for scraps, spare parts and odds and ends, and just sit next draft out entirely? we can't even do a jerry jones “draft for special teams” next year.

That didn't even work for Jerry, it just reinforced his teams flaws.

Hmm. For a 5th, he's an upgrade at depth at worst. If he proves to be better, great.

    Just to clarify: we have a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, Oakland's 6th, & 7th round draft picks next year.

And numerous compensatory picks as well

You only get a max of four, and I doubt they'd be very high as few of our FAs hit blockbuster deals and as far as I can tell certain trades count against it too so don't go counting your chickens.
