This is kind of bizarre. I can't imagine a teammate saying on live radio that "I'm getting ready to call out my teammate"....unless the frustration is just incredible.
    --------------------------------------------

Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason said Thursday afternoon during his weekly appearance on Charlotte sports radio station WFNZ (610 AM) that he plans to talk to defensive end Julius Peppers about Peppers' slow start so far this season.

Peppers, who is making more than $1 million per game, has had one sack and 10 tackles during Carolina's 0-3 start.

Beason said he watched the closing minutes of Minnesota's win over Green Bay Monday night, during which Vikings' defensive end Jared Allen had 41/2 sacks. It was the type of performance Panthers fans, and apparently some teammates, want from Peppers.

Beason said he received a phone call late in the game from someone discussing Peppers, to which Beason said he responded, “I'm going to have a conversation with that guy.”

“The pressure is what you want to see ...the intensity,” Beason of Peppers.

Beason said his conversation "would be brief and to the point."

Beason said he wouldn't be looking to criticize, but rather to say, "I need you to be therewith me.I need everything you've got. That's it in a nutshell."

After the show, Beason declined to elaborate when The Observer asked him about his comments.

Earlier, when a caller asked Beason why he thought Peppers would listen to him, Beason said they have a good relationship and are honest with one another.

"Pep is a guy of high character, a guy (who's) disciplined. He respect it when it's for real," said Beason. "I think we've got a good relationship. Whatever I say to him, just like whatever he says to me, we take to heart."

Good that he's doing that, but it's not much of a callout to say you're going to talk to someone. A callout would be "Julius Peppers is a cowardly bitch who's letting his play do all his pouting about not getting out of this shithole"

I wish all the defense was as intense as Beason. He seems to take it personally every time an opponent gains a yard on the defense.

Thats all good and all but Peppers is not the reason Carolina sucks right now......They had one of the top rushing offenses in the league last year and this year they dont run hardly at all. Im sorry but Jake is not a great QB and thats why you have to run the ball

Disagree. He's a huge, huge part of why we sucked in the first 3 games. Our defense has been awful and he's been the weakest link in the D. We don't run because our D and punt coverage teams are awful and we quickly end up playing catchup.

I'd disagree he's the weekest link on the defense, but hes one guy who can dominate who isn't. Plus they had the lead at the beginning of 2 of the 3 games. I don't think there is an exact pin point excuse for why this team is struggling. All facets are playing poorly.
