I'm curious to know what peppers and his agent are thinking (if anything). What kind of bargaining power do they seriously think they could have coming off a year like this one is shaping up. Even my 12 year old nephew clearly sees that he’s giving up contain, making stupid reads, and taking numerous plays off.
Who the fuck is peppers going to be worth a large long-term contract to? If I were a GM I wouldn’t sign him to anything but a modest one or two year “prove you want it” deal. He’s playing like some has been who doesn’t give a shit and is planning on retiring after this season . . . too bad

Peppers is making as much this year as the signing bonus would be on a top 5 contract, he won't have to ask for much next year to be making about the same amount as someone that signs a megacontract.

Jared Allen is pretty damned good, and he puts forth great effort on every play, but he also has a fuckova lot more help on his line than Julio Peepers has. Put Kevin Williams, Pat Williams and Ray Edwards on the Panthers line and Jamario Poppers would be a lot better. Not as good as Allen, but a lot better than he is now.

Allen plays more aggressively. That doesn't mean he wins every battle but Peppers just doesn't seem to have the motor.

He's one of the best athletes on the field every game and watching him mirror or QB running to the side is infuriating. Just go after the guy.

Allen's defensive scheme allowes him to worry a little less about the run and pin his ears back and rush the QB. Plus since his offense tends to win the scoring battle more than not he gets to face a QB throwing to stay in the game instead of a running game trying not to run up the score.:bananalama:

Last three monday nights we have seen Dwight Freeney, Peppers and last night Allen. Julius Peppers is a distant third to these two. Still shocked how bad Peppers played in the feature game....Bigger issue with Peppers then benching Delhomme in my opinion.

yeah, there's nothing in the scheme keeping him from getting after it. This is a basic scheme where he's just going to his gap and keeping contain. Which he hasn't done a good job of.

Good for Allen. Games like this are rare.
