I don't think there is anyone here who didn't, at some point in the last 3 years, ask "Why aren't we looking for our future QB?" If we asked that question that puts us one up on the front office management, so we knew something. Risk mitigation is good business.....it's a simple idea.

It's interesting to note that Rodney Peete lost his job not sucking nearly as bad as Jake has.

Initially though we had a superstar in the replacement of Peet. A: we all scratched our heads when we signed Peet and B: when Delhome lead us to a big come from behind shot in the arm it was a done deal.

With Jake, there has never been a shot in the arm back up QB. We have always had sub par back ups.

Because he had two players who had consistently shown they could be better.

I know what the next step is - this is the conspiracy where the team hasn't put anything into replacing him, and so on, when this team's put as much into backup QBs in the last few years as they had before that.

I'm wondering if the smack in the mouth the team got in week one isn't somehow similar to the smack in the nose Smitty gave Lucas in camp last year.

It was a defining moment last year when the team pulled together as a group and you could sense that the whole was greater than the sum of the parts. Smitty took the blame and asked for forgiveness, and Lucas forgave, and it bonded them as a team.

I noticed this week, not just in the press but in examples like Smitty being miked up up NFL Films, that they seem to be rallying around Jake, and again, pulling together as a team.

A backup QB isn't a replacement. It's a fact, this team has shown NO interest in bringing in either someone to compete for the job, or sought out a young QB to be the future franchise QB. They have looked for backups who can play not to lose.

I'm sorry you don't like that we spent #1 draft picks on superstar players instead of chancy throwers.

Let's see how long they rally if he spazzes out again.

I'm sorry that you don't understand what a corner we have painted ourselves in. That we don't have any legitimate options at QB except for a guy who has committed 11 turnovers in his last 2 real games and done squat in his preseason attempts, and no light at the end of that tunnel for a few years to come.
The problem is the QB can win or lose games for a team every single week. A RB or Guard or tackle or DB or even a WR having an off day doesn't decide the game....a QB having an off day does.
Would you trade Stewart for Flacco right now?

EDIT: Actually, I believe you know how stupid we have been to put all our eggs in Jakes basket, but admitting that would mean you were wrong.

Always love these monologues after one line statements.

I fully support what we did. I believe we have talent at QB. Do we have some shiny first rounder that everyone can immediately state is the guy without having earned it? No. We sure don't. Did our other veteran go down in a heap in the same pressure that made the other guy fail? Yeah, and that severely impedes things.

Which, I'll give you this, you're not campaigning for Moore in and amongst all this self-righteousness.
