If they believe they're a contender, entirely possible.

I'd rather do a straight swap if that were the target, but whether the Pats would accept that or not? Hard to say.

Been thinking for a while now that if we got Peppers some help on the other end of the line that maybe he'd stop sulking.

I think we keep him, and he benefits from having Brown/Johnson to rush the passer, and another DT to keep that rotation fresh.

I'm starting to wonder 2 things:

    1) Trading Pep is where Hurney is expecting to get next year's 1st round pick back.

    2) They're planning to trade Pep for a DT.

That was the thought, this year, about why we traded the 1 last season.

I would be great with that. I don't see him as anything but a major problem.

If I were Pep the first thing Id do is fire my agent. He has absolutely screwed the pooch on this one. We're drafting as if he may hold out/be traded. They hold no cards in this at all. No team has stepped up from their list to talk to them. He would excel in this new D if he chose to stay.

I have to agree with the teams stance so far. They are not gonna let him go for nothing or allow the player or agent to dictate what is going to happen. The team has every right to him. As a union member he has agreed to be part of the CBA which gives the team that right (so I for one have no simpathy for his plight).

His choices are to sign the tender and play this year, sign the tender and go wherever the team trades him, hold out and be tagged next year or retire.

Or like Seattle did on Hill (per PFT)we could rescind the tag.

Or best case scenario (for us), the lack of true interest from "his" teams or any team pisses the shit out of him and he vows to make them pay on the field when he faces them or any team who didn't want to cough up $$ for him. We can dream can't we?

Assuming he is back for one more year where does he line up? He had one of his best years at RDE. Brown is undersized and probably not going to be able to handle LDE. We will want to get Brown on the field at least situationally right away. I do not see us pulling Peppers on third down and putting Brown in. So either Brown rotates in at LDE or Peppers shifts back to LDE. That might get interesting given Peppers existing issues with the team.

Peppers could still play the RE in base D then shift to LDE whenever Brown comes in.
