The goal line stand I watched this morning featured Brace getting pushed about a yard and change into the end zone. Not exactly what I wanted to see. :eek:/

I've read doubt as to whether Brace can beat a doubleteam since Raji takes them up. I wouldn't be able to say one way or another.

Every site I visit has Raji, Jerry, Hood...1,2,3 almost without exception. After that people are all over the place; Brace shows up 4th on some sites and as low as 6th or 7th on others. Moala is 4th on many sites, but I've seen him land 5-10 as well. Magee from Purdue is all over the place and Gilbert some are calling a DE and not listing him as a DT generally fourth through seventh DT taken. The junior kid out of Auburn, Marks, is generally around the 5th. It seems not too many people are settled outside the top 3 and Hood may slip to the top of the second round indicating the talent pool level this year.

It really sucks not having a first rounder this year because we really need help in the interior D-line and the talent isn't there especially when we are up in the second round.

We know the team doesn't reach based on need so there is a very good possibility that we go into the season no better off than we ended the last one. Hayden appears to be the top backup and we'll probably bring Gibson back to camp this year and possibly re-sign Darwin Walker to a one-year veteran minimum.

yeah, this second group has a lot of separation and differentiation.

Gilbert isn't necessarily a DT, and the sites are going to project him to different places based on whether they're one gap or two, 3-4 or 4-3...I'm just using him and Jackson there since that's how I feel we'd use them.

If we pulled a 1, it'd definitely go to DT, IMO.

Even if we had a 1, there's no thing as a SURE thing when this team picks. It's doubtlful if the team does generate a first round pick it would be high enough to get Raji and Hood is end of round material. If we had a mid-round pick Jerry is the only option and we know the team does not zero in on one prospect and one prosect only for any given pick.

Honestly, it's a good thing we don't have a first rounder, because if we did and the team passed up Jerry or Hood I'd have to dropkick the freak'n t.v.!

If we stay put at #59, I'm liking Marks for the simple fact while all these guys have holes in their game he's a junior that has moved inside out and back again with some missed time due to injury. In essence, he's the one around our pick that isn't a quite known commodity with 'upside'. Brace and Moala who should also be available at that pick, have roughly the same scouting knocks on them with plenty of field time.

I'd rather gamble on somone with an upside than someone with a track record of being inconsisant in their time throughout college.

I haven't seen enough film yet to say this with much confidence, but if what I've seen so far of both holds true, I'd rather grab Moala and plug him into the 3 technique (under tackle?) slot. Brace doesn't look like an upgrade to Kemo yet.

I guess everyone's problem with Brace is that he had average results next to Raji. So is Raji overhyped and didn't command the attention some say or is Raji that good and Brace didn't take advantage of his chances?

Unless there is some favorable bias for Raji, to me, it looks like Brace didn't take advantage of, or wasn't capable of opponents game plans going to protect his other side.

Sad to hear Brace is not showing well on film. He sounded good but it is hard to judge a guy who plays next to a star. As long as we get one of the second tier guys I will be happy. It is impossible to know how good they will really be, we just need a guy who can play right away. Those guys usually do not show up in the 6th round...

If we had a 1 don't you think it would be because Peppers is gone? We would use it on an end. If Peppers stays, it's certainly not a bad tact to upgrade the middle of the DL now and get a DE when we do have a 1st.
