Smith didn't come into a favorable situation in Atlanta and did a pretty good job. But as you said, you never know in the NFL.

Smith had a credible personnel man behind him, and a decent core. They also made some great moves through FA.

I remember thinking last spring how bad the falcons would suck. The closer we got to August, I took a look at their roster and started thinking otherwise.

I think it's a testament to how fortunate we are to have a good coach. The Falcons, talent wise, were capable of winning 6-8 games in 2007, but the coach totally let the wheels come off that shit. I would think Fox, or Mike Smith, would have pushed that team to 8 wins, despite the Vick debacle.

That said, Tampa needs to be a little concerned about their current QB situation, their aging defensive line (particularly if they lose Haye), their LB's, WR lacks depth.

They'll sign some turds--they always do. But the fact that Haynesworth turned down more money to sign with DC is pretty telling.

Smith has been coaching since 82, when Raheem Morris was 6 years old.

True...he has a lot more experience than Morris. My point is that he exceeded expectations as a new head coach, especially taking over a team that many predicted would win no more than four games or so.

No, retard. Brooks, Dunn, and the rest are not guys who would tank for any reason. Gruden was not liked by some of the players, but the malcontents were not this crowd.
