Staying. Restructuring to save Carolina $1 million.

    Per Chandler:

(UPDATE 11:55 a.m.: Johnson is staying and is restructuring his contract to save about $1 million in cap sapce, about the same Carolina would have gained by cutting him).

Most of the talk about cutting him came from one week when they made him inactive anyways.

Smart move....why cut him when you would only be saving a mil. Now you can keep him and still save that million dollars. He was nonexistant last year but he's better than Curry & Anderson...our other depth LB's

From pat chat today talking about Ken Lucas might getting trade

Stephen: (Chapel Hill, NC):: Anyone on the market the Panthers could target to fill in at corner after they (presumably) let Ken Lucas go? If not, can they find someone in the draft that can contribute without having a first rounder?

Pat Yasinskas: (3:39 PM ET ) Just a rumbling I'm hearing. Not saying it's going to happen. But you might see Lucas traded, instead of released. Stay tuned.

I wonder what we'd get for Lucas? 4th or 5th rd maybe?

my numbers had us sitting at around $18 mil under before the contracts, which I estimate at around $22 mil, and my guess is it'll be $4.5 mil for RFAs. So, $8.5 mil over, or I guess now, $7.5 mil.

The cap issues are pretty unique this year, with the no-pushing-to-next-year thing. SO restructure does look like a better option for many guys.
