first day you can use the tag is today - I don't expect us to do anything today, but I imagine if we did want to trade him, making those intentions clear wouldn't be a bad thing.

And, with the Oakland and KC staffs possibly coming together soon, maybe we'll have some assistants in soon. There are a number of teams without a complete staff so something will fall into place (and something like 68% of teams had an open defensive coordinator position at one point this offseason, which is completely unheard of).

Over the next month a whole bunch of weird shit's probably going to happen. Traditionally after a good year (2006 is a moderate exception, which is part of why there was a staff shakeup after 06), we tend to be conservative and spend on our own guys, but that won't be completely possible.

Typically, after a good year, we were actually a good team.

Any chance we ditch Hackett for a receiver that can stay healthy while beating out the worst draft pick in franchise history?

I think there's a good chance we ditch Hackett without adding another receiver.

I don't think we get much cap relief cutting Johnson.

I'd think waiting until we have to use the tag is the best option.

We do need some damn coaches though.
