I just threw our old assed vintage dryer out today and replaced it with a newer one my sister isn't using anymore. I went to plug it in and damn if it isn't a four pronger. The outlet is for a three pronger. Is this as simple as turning of the breaker and changing something out or is it an enormous pain in the ass that requires a professional? TIMFAMFers.

I dunno. The difference in prongs may indicate a difference in voltage/watts a line can carry. [I'm scared to death of electricity, even after taking a brief course on house-wiring.]

The 4 prong is the latest piece of crap meant to keep us safe. You just need to get a new cord for the dryer unless you want to have an electrician rewire the damn thing. The 3 prong outlets have a 110white, a 110red, and a black neutral. There is no ground wire. The 4 prong outlets include a ground. Lowe's, Depot, or any appliance store will have the 3prong cord. OR, you can take the one off your old dryer if you still have it.
