Been working on my dining room for a few weeks now. I actually started over a year ago, but you know how things happen.

I'll post the finished pictures tomorrow, I hope.

These are what it looked like when I first moved in. I didn't even have my appliances in the kitchen.

I've got to finish painting the trim and clean the floors.

New lighting courtesy of a friend and a can of spray paint.

Nice work. I was wonderng if the wiring has been updated to a three prong grounded system or is it still the old two prong cloth covered type?

You have amazing vision. I would never have seen that tasteful result when looking at the beginning.

    Great work!

It's got both. Many of the outlets have been rewired in these two rooms. I have a friend who is supposed to help me rewire everything else at some point. All the outlets are accessible from the basement. It's the ceiling boxes that will be the hardest to replace.

Thanks. It really was just a matter of removing everything and starting over.

What color did choose in lieu of that green? [Green makes it look like a fortune-teller, tea-readers room.]

This was my first try at a color, a gray. I mixed a few colors together from partial cans. I hated it. So I bought a can of oops paint from Lowe's for $5 that matches the rest of the house a lot better. It was a lot "cooler" than I wanted. The new color is a warm tone, but still dark.

I'll post pictures when it's done. Waiting on the first coat of paint to dry on the trim. Another hour I can recoat and install the toe molding and clean the floors.

Very nice. What color are your furniture pieces? The wall color will allow you to toss in some nice accent colors. We have similar colors and have a off white sofa and some throw pillows of Burgundy and dark green as well as a couple of leather chairs with leather ottomans. Are you going to have an area rug on the floor or go as is?

That's the dining room. I don't have any furniture right now, but this is what I'm looking at.

It will be a while before I buy furniture. I won't actually use the dining room usually, so there's no rush.
