Says a lot without saying a lot, doesn't it?

Nothing wrong with wanting to work with a much narrower focus. He probably had some fond memories of a time in his life with a lot less stress and decided to go back there.

that he chose early to go to a specific place instead of seeing if anyone wanted a coordinator says a bit, really. I think people are thinking too much on the other parts, wanting to write this team and staff off for a year that hasn't even started yet.

Fitzgerald has dominated a lot of defenses this year. He only had two games where he averaged under 10 ypc. It's retarded that Trgo took so much shit for that playoff loss just because Fitzgerald made a couple of big plays, one of which was against double coverage.

I'm pretty sure hasbeen99 meant that it says a lot of bad things about the Panthers that Trgovac wanted to get the hell out of dodge, even if it meant a clear step down for his career. I'm also pretty sure that you knew that, but you're trying to cover the front office's ass and pretend that it says nothing bad about the organization. This is starting to be reminescent of your blind defense of Seifert. Don't go down that road again. You can refuse to be critical of Fox/Hurney without embarrassing yourself by pretending that nothing is the team's fault.

I was disagreeing with him. See, that's how normal people do things. We do it without insulting each other or trying to start arguments.
But thanks for bringing it up in multiple threads, since the other day you were pretending you "just wanted to talk football." Being dismissive is just easier, I guess.

And I've been perfectly fine to agree and disagree with Hurney and Fox when I've seen fit.

Agree. No shame in that. He's an outstanding DL coach. More $ and more power aren't always the best.

It's hard for us as fans to know exactly what happened, but from the information I've seen, it looked like his three underlings didn't wait around for contract renewals. Two left for promotions (Sunseri, Flajole), the third left for a lateral (Lewis). Trgo, on the other hand, politely declined being re-signed with nothing (as far as we know) lined up. Then he took a demotion, in a radically different scheme.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think people make career moves like that unless they have a compelling reason to do so. And it's just my opinion, but "it's been seven years, so it's time for a change" doesn't qualify as a compelling reason.

The media's given valid reasons for leaving, too. Lewis going to his brother's team, Flajole leaving for a better job, and Sunseri setting himself up for a head coaching job in college. Whether those are correct or the worst case scenario isn't something we know. What we do know is that the team decided to offer a number of guys one-year contracts, and some reports say they were late; that some coaches were allowed to take a look at other opportunities and that's not something that we've offered before.

Other than Trgovac, where the speculation has stated everything from "Fox is meddling" to "Trgovac was burnt out", and numerous things in between. The idea of him not wanting to trudge through rebuilding is valid, and the idea of him not wanting to be a part of more restructuring on-staff is valid. None of these things really bother me, though. Including the meddling. I agree that it would make a lot more sense if Fox had just tried to replace Trgovac, sure.

I always felt like Trogo served our aims better as a DL coach than as DC. Well, not always, but certainly after he quit being DL coach. Unfortunately he couldn't take a step back and stay here.

It's been said that a big reason he wanted to make the move to GB was he could spend time learning the 3-4 from one of the masters. That seems like a smart move for his career, long term. Getting out on his own terms wasn't a bad move either.
