So is it Fox's or Trgo's responsibility to make adjustments on defense during the game? Whichever one it is they failed miserably last night and have in several games. Would you replace Trgo? It doesn't seem we get much out of the talent we have on defense.

I actually don't see a lot of defensive talent, at least in comparison to the better defensive teams. Don't we pretty much have Peppers, Beason, Davis, Gamble, some draft picks, and a bunch of guys other teams let go? As for adjustments, that's not something the Panthers really seem to do under Fox. He wants to force a style of play on the opposition rather than let them dictate your own approach. To state the obvious, sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. I didn't like that we refused to deviate from our defensive philosophy to try and contain Fitzgerald, but I'm sure Fox & Trgo had to be on the same page with that decision. Really, Tampa doesn't make those adjustments either, so it's not like Carolina is the only one that stubbornly sticks to its normal gameplan.

All I could think of in the first half, besides Jake is fucking us, was Lovie Smith refusing to double Smitty.

I think we have enough talent that we should be better defensively than we are, do you disagree? I know everyone bitches about blitzing but when we do blitz we never really seem to get there. Is that the players or is it the design? Again would you replace Trgo?

Remember the Seattle playoff game a couple years ago when they put a OLB out on Smitty to bump him at the line?

We're young, which is nice, and we initially seemed deep (when the starters were playing well, though, so don't think it matters).

We have enough talent to play better in the back 7 than we have in the last two months, definitely. You can say our DL is undertalented, to a point their hands were tied with Jenkins, but our secondary had enough talent with our three corners to make something happen. And they failed us a bit, too. If we weren't great against the run, if we weren't great rushing the QB, I could get that but we've had these problems before at times and had good CB play.

Coaching, as well, changed things up too late in some spots, gave up too many points pretty much all the time, and when we did have pressure it didn't seem to matter.

I don't know I'd replace Trgovac, specifically. Right now I'm not sure what I'd do. But, I've defended him through play I thought was good, and in that time a ton of people put criticism on him that was unwarranted. This is warranted.

Fox should and will stay. Trgo might not. His unit wilted down the stretch. Even when our D has been good under Trgo it has not been scheme it has just been talent. I would like to see us get a guy who is more aggressive.

Hopefully Fox and Jake will be on the same bus with our defensive backs. I am sure it will take more than one bus to carry their ego's though.

Yes, that was my point. We are not very talented defensively and I think we got solid results considering what we have. And replacing Trgovac would be pointless given that he's just doing what Fox wants.
