Arizona Cardinals. They said we only went 9-7 in a terrible division! They said our quarterback was too old! They said our defense wasn't good enough! They said we just weren't very good! No one thought we could do it!

Baltimore Ravens. They said before the season started that we wouldn't even make the playoffs! They said we'd struggle with a rookie quarterback and rookie head coach! They said Ray Lewis was past his prime! No one thought we could do it!

Carolina Panthers. They said, "Giants, Giants, Giants!" all year long! They said Jake Delhomme wasn't good enough to win a championship! They said Steve Smith should stop punching teammates! No one thought we could do it!

New York Giants. They said our championship last year was a fluke! They said there's no way we could repeat! They said Eli Manning wasn't a leader! No one thought we could do it!

Philadelphia Eagles. They said Donovan McNabb was washed up! After we tied Cincinnati and then Baltimore destroyed us, they said we were finished! They said Andy Reid was a terrible coach! No one thought we could do it!

Pittsburgh Steelers. They said our offensive line was weak! They said our quarterback held on to the ball too long! They said we didn't have a power running game! No one thought we could do it!

San Diego Chargers. They said an 8-8 team shouldn't even be allowed in the playoffs! They said we were only here because Denver gagged! They said LaDainian Tomlinson was finished! They said Norv Turner was a terrible coach! No one thought we could do it!

Tennessee Titans. They said we weren't as good as our record! They said we couldn't win a championship with Kerry Collins at quarterback! No one thought we could do it!

 

Funny how the teams that everyone was pimping prior to the season are out of it already..... None of these teams were really considered contenders. The Giants were the champs but after Strahan retired and Osi went down everyone wrote them off.

 

like who - besides the Colts?

OK - edit - the Patriots, but once Brady went down I think everybody considered them out. I never really the Cowboys would make it. The ones still in it are pretty much who I thought, besides us.

 

The fucking Saints.

The fucking Falcons.

Both were relentlessly hyped all season.

 

The Falcons were expected to suck ass this year.

 

Coming into the year the Cowboys were hyped to death. The Patriots were big. The Chargers are still in it but no one expected them to go 8-8. The Titans were certainly not expected to be the number one seed in the AFC. The Packers were being hyped a bit. There was a lot of preseason buzz around Buffalo too. Cleveland was expected to take the next step this year. How many fantasy teams were sunk by taking Braylon Edwards and Derek Anderson high?

 

Most people were assigning Dallas as the NFC Champion before the preseason even started. I thought the Giants would miss the playoffs, which was brilliant in hindsight. I thought the Panthers would win 9, maybe 10 games, and figured New Orleans was the second best team in the NFC. I thought Jacksonville was going to win the AFC South, I thought Detroit had a chance to win the NFC North, and I thought Green Bay screwed up by letting go of Brett Favre.

 

Until Mattie Ice started getting blown by ESPN/NBC/FOX/CBS.

They all caught AIDS from each other.

 

Aikman still makes the argument that the Cowboys are the best team even though they missed the playoffs.

And Costas still thinks Atlanta should be playing instead of us.

 

Atlanta made the playoffs.
