Not only did Williams set a Carolina franchise single-season rushing record. His 1,515 yards eclipsed Stephen Davis' 1,444 in 2003... Stewart's 836 yards rushing this season set a single-season rookie mark for the Panthers.

Also worth noting that DeAngelo helped lower the rankings of the defenses he played. Before that second game, Tampa Bay was the top rush defense in the league. Williams broke them.

What a nice thought. Congrats DW on the record. Won't mean anything unless the pace continues in the playoffs.

good point...and it also alludes to an important point regarding "statistics" - they're very dependent and/or conditional on things that aren't easily quantifiable, especially with the little one can get from the scraps of data available from traditional football scorecards. The totality of the statistics that the average fan has at his disposal is pretty much useless for a legitimate evaluation. I wish we knew more about the data the coaches actually use to make decisions, but its probably regarded as very classified i'd imagine.

How much longer is DW under contract? He keeps this up and the Panthers will have to make a hard decision.

Nah, you can tell a lot from the numbers, you just have to know how to read them. That's the way it is with anything, whether sports or business.

It won't be hard. Pay him.

He's not only a John Fox guy, he's a Richardson guy. My Dad's a Memphis native and alum - everyone there raved when we drafted him and always told him how he was the steal of the draft AND a great, great guy.

We went to practice one day this past mini camp, and Williams chatted with my Dad for about 5 or 10 minutes. Personality wise, he's the anti-smitty.

    He's a keeper. He's 'core'.

Your probably right. He made a point in seeking out Stewert when he was drafted and they seem to be great friends. You rarely see that among two players who essentially play the same position

DeAngelo will be a free agent in 2011.
