BREAKING NEWS: Panthers without both starting DTs today
Maybe the Saints won't be throwing as much today.

If the Carolina Panthers are to win the NFC South and secure No. 2 seed in the playoffs, they will have to do it without both starting defensive tackles Damione Lewis and Maake Kemoeatu. The team released its inactives on Sunday and both are out for today's game.

Darwin Walker, a nine-year NFL veteran, will start alongside either rookie Nick Hayden or J'Vonne Parker. That is a potentially huge problem for the Panthers as neither Hayden or Parker has started an NFL game.

The other inactives for Carolina include wide receivers Dwayne Jarrett and Kenneth Moore, safety Quinton Teal, guard Mackenzy Bernadeau and linebacker Adam Seward. Matt Moore is the third quarterback.

For the Saints, the inactives include tight end Jeremy Shockey, running back Pierre Thomas, cornerback Michael Lehan, guard Jamar Nesbit, defensive tackle Kendrick Clancy, defensive end Rob Ninkovich and wide receiver David Patton. Joey Harrington is the No. 3 quarterback.

Even without Kemo and Lewis will win today so Go cats go

it's still our pass D against their run D. Must have good corner play. Cover Henderson deep, you know they'll throw about five of those. Be physical on Colston, he's going to get a lot of shorter balls. If I remember right, Gamble had a great game last time.

And I look forward to watching our guys abuse Jason David. How he's still starting, I don't know. I do expect we'll do some creative things on offense, but we can move the ball regardless. They're the 18th defense; 25th in points. 21st passing, 16th running. We can impose our will. We ran for 143 last time, before we were rolling. Stew had 68 and a score, DW had 66. That's without breaking more than a 17 yarder for either.

Brown's a bit banged up, but I guess he'll go, so Peppers will get a lot of help. He had a sack last game. Jake was efficient last time, 14/22, 2 scores, just another 'mediocre' performance. Smith was over a hundred yards. We were 46% on third down.

But whichever guy starts at DT, that's going to be a tough assignment. Jahri Evans is, to me, Pro Bowl worthy, and Carl Nicks is a guy I liked a lot coming out. They have good guard play. Pierre Thomas being out hurts them, but don't think that McAllister won't hurt us, he's still able in all phases. He will get the ball, and he'll get the ball in shotgun situations, too - they're not stupid. They'll do it too. But the Saints suck at power running, so essentially we'll see a lot of this with three ends in the game anyway. We'll probably see Brayton in the middle a lot regardless.

With Shockey out, one upside is that we don't have as big of worry for our LBs dropping right off. I'd put some hesitation into it now, stay in your gap and slowly fade instead of turning and dropping. And I would expect to see more c2 shell over man technique without Shockey (we played it a lot last week too, oddly), which will allow for more doubling on the deep guys.

that's all I have. Nothing big today.
