    I like the added spaciousness, too.

    I recently took down the curtains over my living room window, cleaned them the windows, dispensed with the storm windows, and wow! what a difference.

    I tried a light color first. It was too washed out. It didn't "hold" the space well. It could have been my color selection, a light blue. It just didn't have that finished feel of the darker color. I've changed the flooring since then though. If or when I decide to sell the house, I'll probably use a much lighter color scheme in there. After all the work I've done over the past 3 weeks, I'm going to stick with what I have. LOL

    Thanks for the suggestion though. Got any pictures of the striping?

    Nice job. Those are (new ones) very similar colors we have in our house colors. Was the previous owners a gaggle of blind old women? Their decor was heinous

    It was an older black woman who rented the house for many years before the owner decided to get out. She put that tacky border in every single room in the house. The living room walls had 3 coats of paint in 60 years. The bedrooms, one was pink (really pink) with the same border. The other was dark green with the same border. The dining room was even worse. I spent three months getting rid of the old lady smell. When Muff and I worked on the bathroom the first time, just to make it liveable for a while, she nearly gagged when we pulled up the old linoleum. The smell was like wet feet that had been wrapped in plastic for a decade.

    Thanks. I've also started on the yard, but I don't want to post those pictures until the flowers are blooming. Should be late July.

    All told, I've spent just over $1000 on those two rooms. That includes a new tub that had a chipped corner for $150. Once I installed it, you can't see it. The toilet hides it. The living room paint came from several colors I mixed myself. The trim and baseboards are MDF painted gloss white. All the work was done by me, by hand. I need a new miter saw. My dad wants his back.

    I took out a doorframe leading to the hall and made an arch to match the one into the dining room. Cardboard, plywood, and lots of gypsum paste.

    ....Your rooms look great! I agree with you Token about trying colors that look cool on paper or in a book but when they're up on the walls they hurt!
    My guys are painting the exterior of our house now and I've, uhh I mean my wife has changed the color 3 times now. And I'm damn glad she did.
    Merry Christmas!!:santa2::santa2::santa2:
