Pepp fined $10K

The fine was the least of my problems with that play. The damage had already been done. Funny they tried to 'justify' the penalty with a flag like everyone doesn't have access to HD feeds.

edit: As far as this fine, it's bullshit too. I mentioned it in the game thread but Vick used to tiptoe the sidelines trying to get extra yards or a flag. I clearly remember him dancing, faking like he was going out of bounds to stop the hit, and lamely creeping forward to steal an extra 2-4 yards.

I'm all for protecting QBs blindly in the pocket, but when they go downfield they need to be treated like everyone else. He was clearly out of bounds when Pep popped him, but if he wasn't stretching the run then he wouldn't have gotten hit. It's a two way street but the cops are only looking out for the QB.

 

Pep can afford the fine, and the hit was justified because Rodgers definitely took advantage earlier. He needed to be set straight.

Leave it up to the player. If they don't want to get hit, let them throw their hand up like a fair catch. Otherwise , they're fair game. Play fakes, blocking, they play football like any other guy on the field.
