Stewart hasn't really proven anything in short yardage yet.

Guess (to me), he just seems to be a more physical runner than Deangelo. Maybe thats just me, but I too was hoping to see him trot out there on that play.

...course, after thinking about my comment about lining up Peppers as a fullback on short yardage plays like that, I guess thats a bad idea. Because whatever has the mojo on him now, I guess I'd hate to give him something else to do.

They should tell him to just quit dropping back/worrying about the pass, and his job on every play should be just go get the QB.

Maybe put Beason at FB on short yardage... I bet he could push somebody backwards for one yard...

It was like the second drive of the first game of the season. I just thought it weird that the play was calling out for a Stewart run and he wasnt even on the field.

Its not like we werent running the ball well either. Our passing game seemed more hit and miss.

IMO, the only compelling reason to go for it was to establish the fact that we could get a yard on the ground when we need it, even when everyone knows that's our play. Otherwise, kick.

Looked at it yet again. They only blitzed one guy. So yes.

And, we werent trying for the dive, so the results were misleading. Maybe we could have made it if we had that called.

Pass to OG is OK on 2nd or 3rd down. 4th down, make the dive.

Yes, but I had made my decision that I'm glad we went for it, that I would have rather had the dive, but was OK with the pass when we were down.

Yes, I think Stewarts absence may have helped tip off the play.

Yes, it was on King. Just because you're not the primary doesnt mean you shouldnt look.

I think in this case a punt would have been a bad play...

the run would've set the tone one way or the other, and is the safe thing to do, but I do still believe the run blitz showed we did the right thing. It just wasn't executed right, and if Hangartner. King and Hoover were option 1, 2, and 3 I'd have to disagree with that call too.

If we'd have called the run, and it got stuffed for the run blitz, then that's a terrible call, so I can't say that was the better option. We got the call we wanted against the favorable call defensively for us, it just didn't get run right.
