    Can you rock over brick?

    Can you tile over brick?

Can you build a wall unit ie... white to the ceiling wood with trim over brick?

I could so do that. I love laying tile and I know I could lay rock. I just know it. The cutting would be the hard thing for me, I'm afraid of saws.:winkiss:

You can also build a frame over it and then drywall over it or put luan over it and paint it. You have to have an air hammer though and some kind of special nails.

I would for sure have to hire someone to do that. I can't use a measuring tape. If everything could measure on the 1/2 I could do it.

If you can only measure on the half then start on the half when you need a whole. Silly.:spiny:

    yes...

...to can you rock over brick. as tbr username hasbeen99 posted, dyi gives you the proper technique. i'm adding this...1. metal lath helps to provide a substrate that will deal the inevitable fact shit moves!
    2. scratch coat....this is the thin layer of bonding agent that connects the lath to the brick. in the "dyi" post, they call for type "M" mortar. i suggest using "thinset" and add the "milk". milk is the acrylic additive that, unlike water, will not shrink when it dries.
    3. when it comes to placing the stone in the right place......thats up to you!
    4. wetting the back of porous materials helps draw into those pours strength from your setting material.
    5. for my bonding agent/mortar, i use thinset,..i promise one thing, when it dries, you can forget prying it loose.
