    Steelers cut Davenport, Parker's backup at running back


    PITTSBURGH --

    Running back Najeh Davenport was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday after the team couldn't work out a trade for Willie Parker's former backup.

    Davenport, a Raleigh native, rushed for a career-high 499 yards and averaged 4.7 yards per carry last season,

    Maybe we can pick up davenport? Better than Toefiled .:smartass:

    The reason he would be 27 is because he was born 27 years ago.

    He's not a real standout in any one area, doesn't run like you think someone of his size would, and gets hurt a lot. Don't see us taking him.

    EDIT: This also doesn't bode for his potential to join the panthers:

    I'm sorry i don't know the life story of davenport. I just think that he's a good back. :thumbsdown:

    Prior to entering the NFL, Davenport achieved a small measure of infamy after he allegedly defecated in the laundry basket of a Barry University woman in her dorm room on April 1, 2002. In a plea bargain, his felony charge of second-degree burglary and misdemeanor count of criminal mischief were dropped in exchange for his completing 100 hours of community service.
