    Gantt blog:

The Panthers struck quickly to fill their hole on the defensive line, signing veteran Darwin Walker to a one-year deal Monday morning.
His agent, Al Irby, said the Panthers "were on the phone with us all weekend."
The 30-year-old Walker lends immediate credibility to the line, which was questionable after starters Damione Lewis and Maake Kemoeatu.
Terms were undisclosed, but there were at least two other teams talking to Walker, who elected to come here to stay near his South Carolina roots.

solid signing. Figured it would happen, but wasn't sure if it'd be him or Coleman. Walker's probably the most potent of the group, despite his problems in Chicago recently.

Fox mentioned on MSP this AM that we would likely fill a DL spot 'as soon as today'.

    Good.

Coleman could still come...sort it out in camp. But Walker is solid as a rock, assuming he's through being dinged like he was in Chicago.

He was a beast for several years in Philly. Then the drama started when he was traded to Buffalo and didn't report, and it never really came out what the problems were all about. Hopefully just business issues, and he's in football shape, and not out of gas.
