I felt like Johnson would be a sound run defender at the NFL level, but he didn't look so hot last year. Hopefully he made a quantum leap over the off-season.

Pepper is at least decent. And between the other three (Brayton, Johnson, McClover) hopefully one or two step up.

My hope is Johnson backs up Peppers and gives him some rest, Brayton shows up as a good run defender, and we rotate McClover in on passing downs and he can generate pressure.

But is sure ain't gonna send fear into the hearts of any OC's

DE was only a consideration for impact, which means an early pick for a possible immediate starter. Depth we have. Brayton, McLovin, CJ. We may not love our depth, but we got some warm bodies.

DT is where there was a need for depth. But DT sucked this year.

I agree we NEEDED a DT, a DE was a luxury.
