Would our 2nd round pick be too early for Trevor Laws the DT from Notre Dame? He had incredible production as a 3-4 DE. Over 100 tackles and 8 sacks. You normally don't see those numbers from that position. I think you can argue it either way. On one hand the guy is kinda small and doesn't have that huge upside. But on the other hand you know what you are going to get. He is a safe pick and will produce in some form during his first year. The guy had 6 blocked kicks at barely 6 feet.
Maybe I'm overcompensating for our 2nd round pick failures of the past. He's a safe pick and knowing we are going to get some production out of that pick is satisfying.

I've seen a lot of different predictions on where he would go. Charlie Casserly was on the NFL Network yesterday saying he was a late 3rd/4th round pick. I thought that was a little low. He compared him to Barry Cofield of the Giants.

he's good, but I still see DT as a depth need for now as opposed to a starting level need. I'd rather have an end if all was equal.

I might be wrong, but I think he'd be an upgrade over Lewis for the 3-technique penetrator.
