Damn...I was excited about that move. Holt probably will play for Carolina one day, but he's getting on up there in age. Makes me feel old. And for those of you that don't know. Torry Holt is the type of guy is perfect for any franchise. Just a good guy all the way around, and a pretty good football player too!

Carolina's DE Julius Peppers to Vikings?

If Carolina becomes convinced it can't re-sign Julius Peppers, who becomes an unrestricted free agent next year and wants a boatload of money, and if the Vikings are willing to part with their first-round (No. 17) draft pick next month plus at least $20 million in guaranteed money, Minnesota might be able to trade for the star defensive end. -- Pioneer Press

And then we'd take DE Merling or Harvey at #13 and Pitt's Otah with the #17.

I'd pass if it were that simple. I'm operating under the assumption we can't extend Peppers this year and will lose him in the offseason next yr. OR way overpay someone who has become a "better than average" DE, but not the dominant player he was a couple years ago.

So I'm saying Peppers for ONE year versus Merling/Harvey for FIVE years. Sure they could flop, but come 2010 we'd be in the same position as if Pep left for some moronic team willing to give him 6 years/$80mm
