Has anyone on here ever chosen to NOT vaccinate their child? If so, did you claim religious exemption?

My daughter and I have been discussing vaccines and the implications of either not vaccinating or vaccinating.

Any genuine thoughts on this would be appreciated.

It's a personal choice but I don't think I would choose to risk my childs life.

That's the reason we are weighing the options. When researching vaccines, the amount of information against them is amazing.

I don't take my grandchild's life lightly and no intention of risking it. I want to be informed and my daughter to be informed. The recent case against the govt. and vaccines should make people ask questions, at the very least.

Oh, the above wasn't a "rant" even though it may come across as one. I was just explaining myself.

There are risks included in receiving vaccines and in not receiving them. IMHO, I beleive the risk you take in receiving the vaccine should be taken because there are so many more risks in not receiving them.

As the son of a top medical doctor specializing in infectious diseases and with several family members in neo-natal and child care specialities, I get VERY upset with people that refuse vaccinations. My children are put at risk by these people - it's NOT a personal decision, and that religious exemption is CRAP and should be removed.

There have been a LARGE number of VERY good studies done on vaccination risks and basically ruled them out, there is no reason to avoid them. By not following the recommended vaccinations, we have allowed diseases that were nearly extinct to come back, including whooping couch and the like.

The CDC maintains a lovely web-site that discusses all of the myths, it's good reading.
