I love the idea of Crumpler in his prime, but I don't think we will ever see that again. As it stands, I think a combination of King and Rosario will be more than enough to meet our needs for a receiving threat at TE. King runs good short routes and has excellent hands, while Rosario showed the end of last season that he is a real threat downfield and as a YAC guy. And both certainly should improve with a year of experience under their belts.

What we need is a TE that is a good blocker...and those are not particularly hard to find. So I just don't see the value in picking up a wearing down Crumpler for what he is likely to command (especially if there are the number of teams interested that has been reported).

If we are not wanting to open the wallet deep or he really wants to come here I doubt he comes here. He is popular

Apparently, there are quite a few teams out there who aren't convinced that Crumpler is past his prime. I tend to agree with them.

FWIW, we have two things going for us...hometown ties, and a natural grass field. That damn field turf may be part of the reason he had that knee problem in the first place.

he's certainly not a guy to get into a big bidding war over. The hope is, you get him in, you get him before he has 80 visits, and you lock him down if he looks like what you want.

I don't think there is any doubt that he is past his prime. The questions are regarding his knee and his price.

and how many years he'll be playing at a respectable level. I don't have concerns for anything but price, personally.

He has only been playing seven years you would expect that he would have a couple or three good years left in him.

Falcons | Team wants to keep Hall
    Wed, 20 Feb 2008 10:48:21 -0800

Steve Wyche, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports the Atlanta Falcons want to keep CB DeAngelo Hall. Hall has one year left on his contract, but said he will not play in 2008 without a contract extension. "DeAngelo is a top-notch talent, and we're still evaluating," Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said. "I know coach Smith definitely wants him on the team. He makes this team better." The Falcons have not committed long-term with Hall and are exploring trade possibilities.
