no he saved them big money. It was a known possibility. He had a better shot of staying and being paid than some others did though.

His biggest issue was he was due a big bonus, and they didn't want to pay it.

I think Carr needs to go as well, but I guess they just aren't clear on what their options will be with QB yet.

    Vinny is done, too old.

Jake, well he may never be the same, we just don't know yet.

Moore, did have some nice games to end the season, but we are going to need more than that at least to start the season, if he isn't the answer.

I was surprised, but he signed such a big contract that it was inevitable he was going to take a fall if the line didn't start to turn upward. I felt like he fit well, but in the end we need some change and his cut can provide that. He was a guy who was at risk, undoubtedly, so it's hard to say he was that shocking.

I agree with many outlets that he was a leader out there and that'll be missed, we don't have anyone else vocal on offense and we'll certainly be looking for someone to step up. But, we'll have to figure that one out amongst who we have.

So right now we have both OTs as free agents, our starting center may still get cut, our left guard just did get cut and our right guard was a question mark coming in. We should get some change this offseason. Lets hope it is for the better.

I am glad Morgan is gone.

The Wahle cut, to me, indicates that the coaches want to overhaul the line.

That overhaul won't likely include Gross, though.

[lingeringbitterness] boy it'd sure be neat to have Davis, Beason, and Spoon on the roster [/lingeringbitterness]

    yes.

yes. Of course, there's no reason to pay any 3 LBs that highly as a cumulative amount. Certainly, the Morgan contract wasn't wise.

Does Carr have trade value? I mean, he was a 1st pick and some teams just can't seem to get past that, i.e., us.

What are the odds we could snag Faneca in FA? He is a can't miss sign.

bonuses were $1 mil and $100k, whereas his salary was $3 mil.

The sticking point was that, with only 08 and 09 on the books, you have to add a year (risky for a guy at that age) or a restructure.
$3 mil over two years means only a $1.5 mil savings, and you'd still have to pay him the $1.1 mil.

Now, they just take the savings now, and the 09 bonus proration still counts in 09.

He'll cost $3.14 mil against the cap in 2009.
