It's funny how this thing has morphed from mostly jam bands to mostly Indie bands. The Indie rock revolution is taking hold...

    Word!

Plut, are you going? If so, please take a second and check out Iron & Wine, and My Morning Jacket. I think you will like both of them.

I'd pay just to see Broken Social Scene, especially if they bring Amy Milan, Feist, or Emily Haines with them :mushy::mushy::mushy::mushy: And an extra mushy for Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley). I'd love for her to get all country and play The Big Guns during their set.

I've also never seen Sigur Ros. Dont see that going over really well in a big festival setting. The Raconteurs are gonna kill though.

Vampire Weekend & Ghostland Observatory duke it out for the "best band with a godawful name" award.

Led Zeppelin is not on the official lineup at this point. Lez Zeppelin is though.

I'd say they've trended past Indie at this point or the definition of Indie has changed and gone towards emo.

I remember when Indie meant Pavement, Dinasuar Jr, and Sonic Youth. :(

It still does Chip. My Morning Jacket, Broken Social Scene, Raconteurs = more of the same. Hell J Mascis plays with Broken Social Scene sometimes, and some of these guys have toured together.

Emo is a cuss word. The only thing remotely emo on that list is Death Cab, and I'd give Ben Gibbard a pass after seeing him live. He's just shy & intellectual, not whiney.

I hear ya though. On second thought, Indie has gotten a little more "pop" (a la Beatles, Talking Heads, etc), but it's still not emo.

I'd rather hear someone call it "boy band crap", than emo. Ugh.

I'd never consisider My Morning Jacket to be Indie. But's that's my point. What the hell is Indie these days? It's not like there are any bigtime rock bands at all anymore to distinguish them.

Yeah, I think I figured our what you meant after I hit reply the first time.

The current Indie flagships are bands like Wilco and Arcade Fire. But if you don't think MMJ is Indie, and I guess you wouldn't consider Wilco to be Indie either.

I "grew up" on Pavement, D Jr & SY. Own almost all of thier albums. Indie's still alive and well Chip, it's just not quite as crunchy as those 3. It'll cycle back.
