In the SB, NE challenged a no-flag violation for 12 men on the field and won. I thought that you could not challenge a penalty that was not called, or am I mistaken? If I'm not then why haven't the Panthers challenged the numerous no-calls for PI and such?

You can challenge the number of men on the field. I think Washington or someone also did it during the playoffs.

I thought that was pretty borderline myself. The player was not on the field he was over it. The guy was in the air and when he came down it was not in the field of play.

At least that is how it looked.

I thought that challenge sent a huge message to both teams. For the Pats, it was "We may have met our match, we're going to need all the help we can get" and for the Giants, it was "Oh hell yeah... they're worried."

It goes back to Cowher when he stuffed the picture in the ref's shirt showing he did not have 12 men on the field.

Im glad that penalty didnt come back to bite them. But how on earth do you get called for 12 men on a punt. Jeez, talk about disorganised.

I do remember thinking at one point during the game that NE biggest plays all night were the PI call and that 12 man penalty. Both were correct decisions tho. The player was actually a few steps from the sideline as the ball was snapped, it wasnt as close as BB thought it was from his leg jesturing.

nah the guy was on the field when the ball was snapped.

lame penalty though, certainly violated the spirit of the rule.
