Since 2002, only five teams in the NFL have finished better than 6-10 every year. The Panthers are one of them.

    awesome.

And if I remember right, after going 4-28, Thelt thought Erickson hadn't had enough of a chance.

7-9 isn't great. We should've been better in 2006, and we should've made ourselves better in 2007. But, all the same I'm sick of hearing about how this is as bad as 4-12 or 1-15, or that overcoming our problems and starting to play good ball isn't worth our time.

I'd rather have a 2-14 season with 5 winning seasons. Cool way of slicing the facts to make it sound good though.

It's not slicing it to sound good. And there really just aren't but a handful of teams that can keep it going every year.

Who has? Cowher, 6 years, then a slump. Three years, then a slump. Two good years, and then finished on 8-8. Won 7% more games.
Jeff Fisher? Didn't have a winning year until year 5. had 5 winning seasons in 14.

If you're comparing us against elite teams, like the 82-96 49ers, or the current Pats, I don't know what to tell you.

I'd love to have that too. I'd love super bowls in a row. That's not why I picked this team, though. If you expect a .75 winning percentage, pick Pats over Cowboys, I don't know that the Cowboys will win enough games to please you.

When a team is 2-6 in terms of winning seasons and you find a stat like this you are looking for something to be a positive. Why not make 7-9 or 5-10 the cut?

Personally I am fine with hard nosed competitive football and we have had that. I think it is pretty much clear that if we can solve our inconstancy at QB we are as good as anybody.

Making 7 losses the cut is no less trying to find something to complain about. We're, what, 6th best in the NFC over the time Fox has had us? It'd be great to be 2nd or 3rd, but it's not as if we've just squandered eight tons of opportunity and the other 31 teams make the super bowl every year.

Wasn't Erickson the coach there while they went through the cap purge? They let Garcia go and had to trade TO? BTW he was 9-23 his two seasons with the 49ers not 4-28.
