    If the Observer's smart they'll actually try to get Darrin Gantt. He already covers the beat successfully. The Observer would be a step up, and there would be little drop off. Not exactly something I'm betting the Herald would want though.

    With the Observer and Herald being in the same market, I'd bet Gantt has a non-compete clause in his contract.

    the observer hired charles chandler (back in the day) because he was kicking their ass from raleigh.

    I'm not liking much from any local writers, but I agree the Observer is bad across the board. Management must be satisfied though, sos every year.

    Yas at the Observer was like taking a normal kid and putting him in a "special" school. He was decent enough, but made to look better by the idiocy around him.
