I would trade Jenkins for him straight up. We would not be losing a whole lot IMO. Jenkins is a good run stuffer but we have other guys who can do that. I doubt that the Bengals would consider that trade though.

Especially since we'd need two quarterbacks, two balls, and 300 minutes of football to get him those touches and keep Smitty happy. That'd be awesome.

As for him being a headcase:

Besides being more high profile than Steve Smith, doing the same overall role with the Bengals that Smith does here, ego clashing with Smith, not enough balls to go around, and so on, Johnson trash talking opposing teams, trash talking Pro Bowl players to the press, trash talking the media, distracting with stupid pregame antics, getting fined for stupid things, complaining when the other receiver gets more balls, complaining about contract, asking for a trade, throwing his helmet during a game, throwing gatorade on players trying to calm him down?

But other than the volatility he is, causes, and the inevitability of him throwing a fit when times get tough and he wants out again, there's simply the idea that he's not a #2 receiver, woudln't be happy being a #2 receiver, and we're not going to be able to pay him without dismantling half the defense.

And the picks we need to build a team, which last I checked we can't afford to just give up. And the money we need to sign him, keep Smith, keep the other big names, and find a way to fill out a roster.

I know, I know, it's a shiny new toy and anyone who doesn't think we should go get Randy Moss, Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens, or any other distracting receiver, just doesn't want to win. The end result is it's overkill for one position when we're in need of a lot more than just a #2 receiver.

i know, just answering the question. Chad Johnson's being a headcase doesn't change with boredom.

and they aren't bothering to even look at the cap ramifications either. They see a big name and it's "let's get this guy".

watching the Seattle game certainly made me want to be more of a spread team, and I've always liked that anyway. Seattle and NE both make the spread look easy, and have done it with different type backs.

Gotta have a good line, though.

When I saw us (theoretically) beef up the line a little bit, and draft a 6'5 receiver that certainly wouldn't stay active if we kept 4 WR active, it seemed like a certain sign we'd be a spread team. Zone blocking v/s a six man front is money, because you're six on six. A momentary double means push, without leaving a man free to pursue. Big receivers get a little more room in spread, and quick ones face less doubles.

i was just meaning a guy who's a little undervalued, definitely not a #1 receiver (but could probably fill in for a game a season), has some return skills and is pretty solid.
