I wonder how he'd get along with Mark Richardson.

Nolan stays in SF but his OC gets the axe.

McCLOUGHAN TO BE NAMED 49ERS G.M. TODAY

A league source tells us that, as widely expected, the San Francisco 49ers have promoted V.P. of player personnel Scot McCloughan to the position of General Manager. The move will be formally announced at a 4:00 p.m. EST news conference.

Co-owner Denise DeBartolo York indicated that the team would be hiring a G.M. during a December interview with Nancy Gay of the San Francisco Chronicle. Not long thereafter, word began to circulate that the job would go to McCloughan.

So the primary change in the team's front office come 2008 is that McCloughan will be running the football operation, and that he will have final say over personnel. On Tuesday, coach Mike Nolan gave up such authority in order to retain his own position with the team.

Bengals DC Bresnahan and LBs Coach Huntley have been fired. Donnie Henderson, former Jets and Lions DC is a candidate to take over at DC.

Source: Bengals interested in Panthers assistant

Panthers defensive backs coach Tim Lewis is being considered for the vacant Cincinnati defensive coordinator position, according to a league source. Lewis joined the Panthers before this season and previously was defensive coordinator for the New York Giants. It’s unclear if the Panthers have given the Bengals permission to talk to Lewis.

oughta be interesting to see how they resolve that.

To me, there are better DCs available.
