    What a pity. . .

Most football purists would agree there are not a great number of QBs -- certainly not in Panthers' history -- who threw a prettier, more tightly spiraled football than Weinke. A terrible shame he couldn't find the trigger in the last couple seasons.

Book got out on him, like it did on Mirer. Mirer had a fine rookie season, but he had the same problem throwing left.

    Rae Carruth found the trigger.

And the trigger found Fred Lane.

The 49ers just need to give the ball to Gore 40 times and they'll be ok

as a matter of fact.... had a friend was over last night, and we pulled out the PS2... only Madden I could find was madden 03, and yes baby, I took the Panthers and benched Peete while down 21-7 and Weinke came in and KICKED THAT ASS!

SAN FRANCISCO: Quarterback Shaun Hill missed practice with back spasms. If he can't play Sunday at Cleveland, the offense will be turned over to former Panthers quarterback Chris Weinke, who signed as a backup two weeks ago.
