Struggling Panthers QB Carr demoted to 3rd string
    December 2, 2007

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Struggling David Carr was demoted to the No. 3 quarterback for the Carolina Panthers on Sunday against San Francisco.

Vinny Testaverde was the starter, and undrafted rookie Matt Moore was listed as the backup. Carr was the emergency No. 3 quarterback.

The 44-year-old Testaverde returned after missing last Sunday's loss to New Orleans with a sore back. Carr started in his place against the Saints, and was 10-of-22 for 95 yards and two interceptions before being replaced by Moore early in the fourth quarter.

The demotion comes after Carr signed a two-year, $6 million free-agent deal with Carolina in the offseason following a five-year stint as the starter in Houston. But when original starter Jake Delhomme was lost to a season-ending elbow injury in Week 3, Carr has thrown three touchdown passes, five interceptions and has a passer rating of 58.3.

Receiver Dwayne Jarrett (knee) was among the inactive players for Carolina Sunday.

For the 49ers, receiver Jason Hill (groin) did not dress.

Wonder if "Collin" is still sticking by his man? I'm sure he can give us a 10 page rant why it isn't Carr's fault he sucks........

If Carr was the problem with the offense, it wouldn't have sucked in the preseason, it wouldn't have sucked against Houston, and it wouldn't continue to suck with Testaverde. The guy has obvious flaws, which is why I said when we signed him that I hoped he wouldn't play at all this year, but his flaws were not the main reason we lost games.

I don't understand this move. Carr has not played good but he certainly hasn't played bad. If it were Carr's fault then blah blah blah..... :bonk: It's hard to keep a straight face and type that. :biggrinjester:

I guess if that is true, we should have sucked today on offense. That's right, New Orleans has one of the worst defenses in the Nfl and Carr made them look like the best defense ever in the Nfl.
