9th pick. We're 4-7 and our opponent's win/loss % is .540. Not only do the teams below us have to win, so does about every one they've played this year. Assuming the home losing streak ends Sunday to put us at 5-7

    Miami 0-11 .534-they'd have to win out, opponent's win/loss % is highest
    Jets
    @ Bills
    Ravens
    @ Patriots
    Bengals

    NY Jets 2-9 .523 1 maybe 2 wins possible
    @ Dolphins
    Browns
    @ Patriots
    @ Titans
    Chiefs

St Louis 2-9 .523 I can see possibly 2 wins here
    Falcons
    @ Bengals
    Packers
    Steelers
    @ Cardinals

San Francisco 3-8 .466 New England has the pick, like us their last shot at a win is Sunday.
    @ Panthers
    Vikings
    Bengals
    Bucs
    @ Browns

Atlanta 3-8 .506 2 wins possible (not likely to happen though), opp W/L % keeps them ahead
    @Rams
    Saints
    @ Bucs
    @ Cardinals
    Seahawks

Oakland 3-8 .517 They probably won't win another game
    Broncos
    @ Packers
    Colts
    @ Jaguars
    Chargers

    Bengals 4-7 .472 3 wins very possible
    @ Steelers
    Rams
    @ 49ers
    Browns
    @ Dolphins

Kansas City 4-7 .500 maybe 2 wins here, opp W/L % keeps them below us
    Chargers
    @ Broncos
    Titans
    @ Lions
    @ Jets

Baltimore 4-7 .500 1 more win is all I see, opp W/L keeps them below us
    Patriots
    Colts
    @ Dolphins
    @ Seahawks
    Steelers

The Bengals play three of the teams ahead of us and should beat all three. That should be enough to push them past us. There's also a chance that winning against SF allows a couple of teams to jump ahead of us in the end.

I want to see us take a RB and QB early in the draft. Not late. The qb may not be ready for 2-3 years but I don't think the 2 young guys we have are going to develop into a starter. When's the last time we drafted a qb that developed? We haven't. Go get one early that will be ready in a couple. In the meantime get rid of the rest of the baggage and sign a stop gap until the young guy is ready.

RB? Get one that can play every down because we don't have one that fits the system we're running and as much as I like Williams, he's more of a 3rd down back.

QBs are a terrible draft gamble. They peak in their late twenties anyway, so you're much better off taking a guy who has been around but is just coming into his prime. And as for RB, we have two guys who fit the system and DeAngelo is unquestionably an every down back. While neither Foster or DW have been exceptional, the run blocking has been the much bigger problem. I don't think the run play-calling has been that good either, for what it's worth.

after this afternoon's action, we've dropped to 13th. The two games remaining this week won't change things for the Panthers. New Orleans is now at 10, Houston at 11, and Denver at 12.

guys I've seen that I like:

Jerome Felton, FB, Furman...this is homer pick of all time for me....BUT TSN has him #1 FB and GBN #3 FB. He is flexible and mobile, a good blocker, a hard worker, can catch the ball pretty well and can line up at RB at times as a power guy. Could be a Nick Goings type swing back, but at 245 lbs...

Corey Boyd, RB, South Carolina...a guy who will last until day two but runs with more power than his size would indicate. Can make a good move and is faster with his pads on than his 40 time. Tough player. A good complement to DeAngelo.

Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma...can't believe he's not rated higher. Great body, strong, good quickness...I like his hands.

Jerome Simpson, WR, Coastal Carolina...he has good size and great hands. Great body control. 40 time probably won't come in that great but could be a mid round pick that finds a role as solid #2 guy.

Nick Hayden DT, Wisconsin...saw the Badgers play Mich St in Madison back in Sept, and on TV a few times, and Hayden was solid and occassionally disruptive from his tackle spot. Good size at 6-4/310....high motor player...not very athletic but a DT version Aaron Kampman.

All the Hawaii WR's :) impressed with all of them and I can't remember the name of one I REALLY liked.

John David Booty, QB, USC...I like him alot and think he'll wind up going in round one-two.

Chad Henne, QB, Mich....I'd be happy with using a 3rd rounder on him.

I like Boyd too, and Simpson is sort of Coastal's version of Sydney Rice (great hands).

Alot of good Wr's come out of 1-aa (FCS...gawd I hate that)......Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, Marques Colston, etc...

Jerome Simpson is a stud. He tore up Furman 2 years in a row with some acrobatic catches over DB's and one-hand snags that were amazing. He's not a blazer and will have to adjust to better competition but a GREAT mid-round pick.

In a couple years you'll be hearing about a kid from Elon, Terrell Hudgins, in the same context. He's a soph. tall, strong, fast enough, great hands and body control. How the hell he wound up at Elon......
