    1. The offense has a special position called a "tight end". I think that our coaches might benefit from learning a little more about this 'top-secret' position.

    2. Drew Carter and Keary Colbert are, indeed, inadequate 2nd receivers. Unfortunately for us.

    3. Our special teams has sucked since last season. Would've been nice to see Fox pull a plug on the Crossman project before this season.

    4. Memo to Deshaun: You are a chronic fumbler. Swinging the ball out to your side as you run does not help you to secure the football.

    I have a feeling we'll see a bit more D'Angelo next week....

King had 4 catches. Lots of them late, I know, but we will feature them.

Wasn't Drew's or Keary's best day. Drew's bomb "drop" was a tough catch. He did have 3 for 50, and looked a lot better than Keary IMO. he did have one where Jake just underthrew. But he looked soft as always.

Special teams continue to be just awful. Nick really has no business returning kicks.

Morgan played awful. Nobody was really good on defense, but he looked rusty.

    Our safeties were abused.

On O, we had no running game. So Jake and Smitty had to carry the show, and that got us 21 points.

This one was really on the defense and special teams, though.

hmm. doesn't this go with fox's philosophy of playing with your strengths, rather than necessarily taking advantage of the opponents' weakness?

and that is what i think the biggest problem with the team has been.

i'm not disputing that henning needed to go. but the thing is, henning was here because he and fox both bought into that philosophy. when it works, it works great. we got nothing else though when it doesn't work.

and our (lowercase) d can't win a game for us. that may very well be the most over-rated, unfoundedly-feared unit in the nfl.

Is it time to see if our 2nd pick can hold on to a pass?

It looked to me like Kalil got abused a couple of times, too.

Our strengths got their ass kicked.

Run D was awful. I can take a big game from Johnson. But Green killed us early. Getting the ball crammed down our throat to begin the third quarter was leathal.

And then Nick's fumbe just ended it.

No doubt, we aren't a team built to come back from 17 down. When the O is clicking, we are moving the chains, but eating clock. We can't afford to be getting run over like that ourselves.

I still want an anwer on the kick-off after our 2nd. TD, the game momentum seemed to change right there.

What kills the Panthers is they are a team to go down 17 in a hurry. You don't have to worry about coming back from 17 if you don't put yourself in that position.

i think we try to coast it too much. not trying to be negative about that word. we get ahead, and figure (hope) the d should hold up, and maybe we get another score. get ahead and stay ahead, basically. and to it's credit, that seems to work more often than not, or worded another way, we win slightly more than we lose. if it means anything, we almost never have 1-score difference in outcomes. we either get whitewashed, or we are doing the whitewashing.

shrug. it is what it is i guess.

18 run attempts (8 of those in the 1st half)
    41 pass attempts

    So much for balance.
