Yeah, I saw that in the paper today and felt better. I just don't want Peppers' play to be adversely affected by the owner's pressure.

I think Fox intentionally made the statement to relieve pressure. I cringed when I heard JR's remarks.

During an interview on the Sports Page this morning, Minter basically said "It's all about #90"

I agree that a player doesn't have to scream and yell to be a leader. We've already got some vocal guys who pump up the energy. I'm not so sure Pep wasn't already feeling more comfortable as a "leader of sorts" last year. His actions on the field and sidelines were different from past seasons. He was much more animated, congratulatory and seeking out people for conversations then previous years. I commented several times to people about a different Julius last year. I watch certain players a lot at times other then during active play and Peppers was more out going last season.

Smitty once appeared to be more about Smitty then his teammates but that changed after a couple years. You could see by his behavior and interactions with teammates that he realized it wasn't all about "me being the superstar" it's about team and a successful TEAM only makes your star shine brighter.

Pep won't be a Buckner, but then Minter wasn't really a Buckner either. Leading can be done without screaming.

Saying you don't have to scream to be a leader is taking it to the extreme. I don't recall Minter being a screamer. However, you do have to be vocal and outgoing. Leading by example doesn't neccesarrily work, it's not like they are following him through a maze. He's got to motivate and keep others in check.

nah, it's not extreme. I don't remember Reggie White being as vocal of yelling and such as the shit-talkers like Buckner or Minter, but he led every team he was on.

It's commanding respect. Respect isn't micromanaging others.
