Bring him in on a fat 1 or 2-year contract.

DD played his college ball at Syracuse, so upper NY would be fine with him I think. I don't think location will be that big of a deal. A chance at starting and making decent money probably will.

The Bills have Whitner, Ko Simpson and drafted John Wendling. Darius wouldn't start there, at least not for long. Buffalo, like his old team, is undergoing a youth movement in the secondary. It wouldn't make sense to throw himself back into that type of situation.

We said we were undergoing a youth movement as well (technically, we are) but we only came out of the draft with a 7th round CB/S. We need something there a lot more than Buffalo or Oakland.

we also told Minter he might not start, but we never got a player better than he is. You could call Nate Salley and Deke Cooper a youth movement, but technically me walking by the stadium is also a youth movement if so. Considering I doubt my bowels would be passing anything older than a few days (at least I certainly hope so - and since no one tried to give us a 2nd rounder for Jordan Carstens), me taking a dumb in the stadium would be a youth movement (and functionally having almost as much range as Salley).

perhaps it could be a force in the box. If I was a RB, I sure as hell wouldn't want to step in a pile of shit.

What free agents do we have next year? It doesn't seem like we will have a lot of holes to fill next year and can devote high picks in the draft to safety and tight end. A good strategy would be to plug this year with someone proven like DD and look to next year for the youth movement when we can get something more than a sixth rounder.

Minter said something positive about Salley. Maybe other than saying "yay Salley" you could say something about him.

I just think he's going to be a great athlete on the NFL level. Everything about him in college says he's smart, durable, and plays hard. He's got the size you want in a Safety and after being on the team for a year and learning the system, I think he'll be ready for the speed of the NFL. He started at safety at a big school in college and I don't think it was anything physical that kept him off the field last year. Every player can't be a starter in their rookie year. I think he was two sport player in H.S. & college, so I think when the game slows down a bit for him and his natraul athletic ability takes over, he's going to be awesome. I also believe the Panthers knew they had a need at Safety last year, and Salley was brought in to fill that role, just not as a rookie. I feel better about having a guy who's been to camp, all the practices and team meetings, and with his skill set then I do drafting a rookie and throwing the whole load at him and expecting great things. In college, one of the things that's said about him most often is he hits hard and is rarely out of position, but needs to improve his coverage skills. To me, he could become a bigger and faster Mike Minter, and there's probably not a better two guys to learn behind then Minter & Williams last year. I think Salley at Safety this year has been the teams plan since they drafted him.
